Archdruid No More - 2 June 1858

Hello?

Hello?

Is this thing working?

Is anyone there?

I tell you, this place is even more backward than Husborne Crawley.

Hello?

Hnaef, I'm not sure this is actually getting through... Can you get Daphne down here? I think we need to "ping" it or whatever she did.

And can you tell the servants to stop singing? If I hear "The Barley Mow" once more I'm going to put a lock on the brew house. I need some peace and quiet here.

Hang on, I think it's working now. Where's the "Publish Post" button?

  3. Good to hear from you people. What a night. We were having a little celebration of Thomas Hardy's birthday (18 today!) but Mrs Hnaef wanted to get the connection up and running. So we got buried in wires and telegraphic equipment, and forgot to keep the servants under control. That's the last time we let them sleep in - half-past eleven before I got breakfast, and even then Dorcas could barely carry the tray.

  5. And pleased to hear from you, Paul. Although a link to your excellent blog would be anachronistic here (and I hate anachronisms...) be assured you are linked to from my 21st century interlocutor.
